Counselling and Therapy for Children and Young People (Ages 3-15)

Children experience and express challenges differently to adults. Big feelings, behavioural changes, withdrawal, or difficulties at school can often be a child’s way of communicating that they need support.

We work alongside children and their families to gently explore what’s happening beneath the surface, using developmentally appropriate and play-based approaches that prioritise safety, connection, and trust.

Our child counselling and play therapy services support children who may be experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worry, or fear

  • Big emotions or difficulty with emotional regulation

  • Behavioural challenges at home or school

  • Social difficulties or friendship challenges

  • Low confidence or self-esteem

  • Adjusting to change, separation, or family transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma or difficult life experiences

Our Approach to Child Therapy

Our approach recognises that children communicate through play, behaviour, and relationship. Therapy sessions are paced to your child’s needs and guided by their interests, developmental stage, and capacity for engagement.

We provide therapy that is:

Child-Led

Children are supported to express themselves through play, creativity and relational connection rather than pressure or expectation.

Trauma-Informed

We understand the impact of trauma, stress and disrupted attachment on a child’s emotions and behaviour.

Emotionally Safe

Building trust and safety is central to the therapeutic relationship.

Collaborative

Collaborative with parents, carers and educators as part of a child’s support system.

What Families can Expect

Families often come to therapy feeling unsure, worried, or overwhelmed. We aim to make the process as clear and supportive as possible.

Through counselling and play therapy, children may experience:

  • Improved emotional regulation and coping skills

  • Increased confidence and self-expression

  • Greater social skills and relationship safety

  • Support in processing difficult experiences

  • A stronger sense of emotional safety

Parents and carers are supported to better understand their child’s emotional world and are offered guidance that aligns with the child’s therapeutic goals.
