Counselling for Children & Teens

We work with children aged 3-18 years who are experiencing a range of challenges.  Our approaches are child led, creative, work to their strengths and nurtures their growth and development.

  • We offer a range of counselling approaches for children and young people depending on their needs. These include:

    • Child Centred Play Therapy

    • Strengths and Solution Focused Therapy

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

    • Art Based Therapy

    • Mindfulness

  • Counselling benefits children and young people who:

    • feel anxious, overwhelmed, depressed or have low self esteem

    • are experiences grief and loss

    • have experienced a sudden, stressful or traumatic event or are living in difficult circumstances

    • have a hard time navigating or making sense of change such as divorce or family separation

    • find it hard to regulate their emotions or express what they’re feeling or thinking

    • experience bullying or other challenges in their social relationships

    • refuse or are reluctant to attend school

  • In play therapy children can learn a variety of skills including:

    • how to regulate their emotions and express their feelings safely through regulation

    • healthy ways to cope when challenges arise

    • pro-social skills and problem solving

    • a strong sense of self, resilience, courage and empathy for others

    • how to challenge unhelpful thinking

  • In counselling children are invited into a space that’s gentle, nurturing and free from the pressure to talk.  They’re celebrated for who they are and who they’re growing to be.  We work with their strengths as we aim to achieve their goals and aspirations.

    During their sessions we’ll play and be creative as they learn how their brain and body works, about their thoughts and feelings, how to cope in times of stress or challenge and build their skills so they can thrive and be the best that they can be.
